MYRTLE BEACH, SC (WBTW) – The Grand Strand Humane Society has a new executive director.
Suzanne Roman started in the position on October 18, according to an e-mail sent to News13 early Thursday evening.
“I’m really excited to be here and to be a part of such a great organization,” Roman said. “There are many good things ahead for our animals and our community.”
According to shelter officials, Roman entered the job with more than 10 years of executive level experience in animal welfare and humane education. Included in her new responsibilities will be the development of a ‘Best in Class’ operation through the organization’s 5 year strategic plan.
“I’m thrilled with my new team and know our board is focused on making GSHS the best it can be,” she added.
Roman most recently worked as the director of development at the Humane Society of Catawba County in Hickory, NC. She also served as vice president of development and communications at St. Hubert’s Animal Welfare Center in Madison, NJ, and as executive director at Mt. Pleasant Animal Shelter in East Hanover, NJ.
Roman plans to meet community members at the Grand Strand Humane Society’s Walk For The Animals event on Sunday from 12 p.m. – 4 p.m. at Valor Park at Market Common.
