MYRTLE BEACH, SC – Grand Strand Health will sponsor seminars about Alzheimer’s disease and overactive bladder in August. There will also be a Look Good Feel Better® Workshop and an American Red Cross blood drive. All will be held at HealthFinders inside Coastal Grand Mall, beside Dillard’s.

Give the gift of life! On Wednesday, August 3 from 11 am – 7 pm, the American Red Cross will hold a blood drive in front of HealthFinders. Blood donations help millions of patients in need.

Did you know one in nine people over the age of 65 has Alzheimer’s disease? On Thursday, August 25 from 10 am – Noon, a seminar about Understanding Alzheimer’s Disease and Dementia is scheduled. Participants will learn about Alzheimer’s disease and other types of dementia, the way these diseases generally progress and how they affect cognitive function and behavior. Strategies for caregivers to better care for those living with dementia will also be discussed. Light refreshments will be served.

A Look Good Feel Better® Workshop will be held on Monday, August 29 from 5:45 – 7:45 pm.

This is a free program from the American Cancer Society designed for women dealing with hair loss and skin changes from chemotherapy and radiation. Participants will learn specific techniques to help make the most of your appearance while undergoing treatment. You will also take home a makeup package. This workshop is designed for women who are currently being treated for cancer. Registration required: 1 (800) 227-2345.

On Tuesday, August 30 from 6 – 7 pm, an Overactive Bladder Seminar will be presented by Michelle Wirt, PA-C, with Atlantic Urology Clinics. She will discuss the causes, symptoms, treatment options and management tools for overactive bladder.

HealthFinders is Grand Strand Health’s community resource center, located inside Coastal Grand Mall beside Dillard’s. HealthFinders offers low cost, walk-in cholesterol and A1C screenings Monday through Thursday from 10 am – 7 pm and Friday from 10 am – 5 pm.
