Myrtle Beach, SC (PRESS RELEASE) – Grand Strand Health will sponsor seminars and classes in July about CPR, babysitting, advanced healthcare directives and foot health for diabetics. All events are held at HealthFinders at Coastal Grand Mall, beside Dillard’s.

A Heartsaver CPR AED class will be held on Tuesday, July 7 from 2 – 5 pm. Participants will learn adult, child and infant CPR, how to relieve a foreign-body obstruction in an airway and proper use of an AED. This course is for anyone with limited or no medical training who needs a course completion card for CPR and AED.  The fee for this course is $35 and includes a book and certification. Two Safe Sitter Babysitting classes will take place in July. Class dates are Monday, July 13 and Wednesday, July 29 from 10 am – 5 pm. Safe Sitter is a seven-hour national babysitting course for 11 – 14 year olds. The class teaches safe and nurturing childcare techniques, behavioral management skills and appropriate responses to medical emergencies including first aid, CPR and how to relieve choking. The Myrtle Beach Fire Department partners with Grand Strand Health by teaching children the first aid portion of the class along with fire extinguisher training. It’s time to begin the conversation about your end of life care. Begin the Conversation – Advanced Care Directives is the topic on Tuesday, July 14 from 6 – 7 pm. A hospice representative will help you begin the conversation about your end of life care choices. The Living Will and the Healthcare Power of Attorney will be discussed and provided.

An American Red Cross Blood Drive will be held on Wednesday, July 15 from 11 am – 7 pm. Give the gift of life! Blood donations help millions of patients in need.

Have Diabetes? Keep Your Feet Healthy is the topic on Monday, July 27 from 6 – 7 pm.Podiatrist Joseph Menn, DPM, with Coastal Podiatry Associates, will discuss common foot problems that diabetics face and how to relieve them.
