MARION, SC (WBTW) – In a major drug bust titled “Gimme the Loot,” the South Carolina Attorney General Alan Wilson says 24 people were arrested in three counties.

South Carolina Attorney General Alan Wilson announced Monday 125 charges against 24 people in a major drug investigation across three counties in the Pee Dee. The bust took place in Horry, Marion, and Florence counties. The defendants face numerous charges, including trafficking heroin, trafficking cocaine, trafficking crack, trafficking methamphetamine, trafficking marijuana, and money laundering.

The State Grand Jury returned three indictments:

  • Horry County: 23 defendants charged with 14 counts: trafficking heroin, trafficking cocaine, trafficking crack, and trafficking marijuana, among others
  • Marion County: 13 defendants charged with 53 counts: distribution of crack, distribution of methamphetamine, money laundering, and trafficking heroin
  • Florence County: 2 defendants, trafficking crack

In the three counties, there are 24 defendants, 68 total counts, and 125 total charges.

The investigation was led by the Attorney General’s State Grand Jury section and the State Law Enforcement Division and involved the Marion County Combined Drug Unit, the Marion County Sheriff’s Office, the Marion Police Department, the Florence County Sheriff’s Office, the Florence Police Department, the 15th Circuit Solicitor’s Drug Enforcement Unit, and the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration.
