An officer with the Georgetown Police Department is accused of domestic violence and no longer works for the department.

Brandon Andrew Rowell is no longer employed by the police department as of about noon on Wednesday, according to Capt. Nelson Brown, with the Georgetown Police Department. 

The Georgetown County Sheriff’s Office announced it has filed charges against Rowell, 26, of Old Pee Dee Road in Hemingway, on Tuesday.

He’s been charged with domestic violence (second degree), stemming from a physical altercation with a woman resulting in visible injuries.

The subject and victim ‘cohabitate and have a child in common’, according to the sheriff’s office.

Rowell has been booked at the Georgetown County Detention Center and is being held, pending a bond hearing Wednesday.

According to the jail’s website, Rowell was booked at 6:52 p.m. Tuesday and remains locked up as of 12:15 p.m. Wednesday.
