MYRTLE BEACH, SC (WBTW) – A Georgetown County sheriff’s deputy has been terminated after being arrested in Myrtle Beach.
The Horry County Police Department responded to a noise complaint shortly before 6 p.m. on Thursday on Meadowsweet Drive. When officers arrived at the apartment, they heard screaming.
Once inside, they found Alex Christian Gregory, 25, standing in the living room. Police said they searched the home and nobody else was inside. Gregory told police he was the only one there, according to the report.
Gregory was an off-duty sheriff’s deputy with the Georgetown County Sheriff’s Office at the time.
The investigating officers said Gregory became “very belligerent and disorderly” at that time and was using profanity. He was detained by police, but once he was in the patrol car’s backseat he began headbutting the cage, according to the report.
He was removed from the patrol car but soon was placed back in because “crowds had begun to form on the balconies of the surrounding buildings.”
Gregory began the headbutting again, so he was once again removed, police said. He “began being boisterous and using profanity in view of the public.”
Police arrested Gregory for violation of the county noise ordinance and for public disorderly conduct.
A Horry County Sheriff’s detention van was requested due to Gregory’s behavior, police said. When the transport van arrived, police said Gregory still was uncooperative and “even banging his head on the roof rail of the transport van as he entered.”
Georgetown County Sheriff’s Office received the incident report from the Horry County Police Department detailing the actions of Gregory and made this statement: “Based on his disorderly behavior, his employment as a deputy sheriff has been terminated, according to the Georgetown sheriff’s office.”
