GEORGETOWN, SC (WBTW) – With much of Georgetown County still lacking power, emergency officials are coming up with ways to keep residents connected.

Georgetown County Emergency Management has set up a charging station for cellphones and other mobile devices that connect via USB in the parking lot at Glasspro of Georgetown, 2302 Highmarket Street.

Members of the public are welcome to use the station to charge their devices until electricity has been restored. Those wishing to use the charging station should bring their own connector cables. The station can charge about a dozen devices at a time.

Outage maps from Santee Cooper’s website say that almost 18,000 people in the Garden City area do not have power.
