A Georgetown County man has pleaded guilty in a case involving sexual conduct with a minor, authorities said on Thursday.
Tyrone Brunson, age 32, of Cherry Street in Andrews, was involved in an incident that took place in early August 2013 in Andrews, said Alicia A. Richardson, Deputy Solicitor for the 15th Judicial Circuit.
A 12-year-old’s mother told police that Brunson sexually assaulted the child on Aug 6. 2013.
The child was interviewed and examined by the Children’s Recovery Center.
Brunson gave a written statement to police in which he admitted to sexual contact with the victim and asking for the child and the family’s forgiveness, Richardson said.
Brunson pleaded guilty on March 2 to criminal sexual conduct with a minor – 2nd degree.
Judge Eugene C. Griffith sentenced Brunson to 12 years in prison and to register as a sex offender.
Brunson must serve 85 percent of the sentence before he is eligible for release, Richardson said. Eight-five percent of 15 years is 10.2 years.
