A Georgetown County deputy experienced an “adverse reaction” while inspecting evidence from the scene of Tuesday’s shooting outside the Francis Marion Store.
According to a press release from the Georgetown County Sheriff’s Office, an “investigator experienced an adverse reaction today while inspecting evidence taken from the scene of last night’s shooting outside Francis Marion Store.”
Emergency Medical Services were called and the investigator was taken to Tidelands Georgetown Memorial Hospital, the release says.
“The investigator seems to be recovering,” said Georgetown County Assistant Sheriff Carter Weaver. The investigator is expected to make a full recovery.
Georgetown County Sheriff’s Office officials say they are searching for Jed Coleman, 20, of McClellanville. Coleman is suspected of firing a gun and injuring Joshua Allen Miller, 24, of Georgetown. Officials say the shooting happened at the Francis Marion Store at the intersection of North Fraser Street and Browns Ferry Road.
It was first reported by Georgetown police that two people were shot. Later reports from the sheriff’s office confirmed only one injury.
