GEORGETOWN, SC (WBTW) – The Georgetown County Sheriff’s Office is asking for the public’s assistance identifying a shoplifting suspect.

On Saturday at approximately 9:45 p.m., deputies responded to the Publix Supermarket located on Ocean Highway in the Pawley’s Island area in reference to shoplifting.

According to deputies, the man entered the store, grabbed a shopping cart and a hand full of grocery bags, walked into the meat section of the store and placed various meats into the shopping cart. The suspect then walked to another aisle and placed the meats into the grocery bags.

The suspect noticed that he was seen by an employee which caused him to walk away from the cart and run away without the items.

The suspect was described as a black male wearing a red hat, a dark jacket, blue jeans, white shoes, with facial hair in his 50’s.
