FLORENCE, SC (WBTW) – Funeral arrangements were announced for the Bi-Lo employee killed in a work-related accident in Florence.
According to his obituary, visitation for 21-year-old Ryan Hoffman will be from 1:00 pm – 3:00 pm on Saturday at Brown-Pennington-Atkins Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at 3:00 pm Saturday, April 16, at Brown-Pennington-Atkins Funeral Home Chapel.
Florence County Coroner Keith Von Lutcken said Hoffman died Wednesday after being severely injured by glass on the job Sunday evening.
Von Lutcken said Hoffman worked at the Bi-Lo on Pamplico Highway in Florence and was a Francis Marion University student.
According to Von Lutcken, preliminary findings indicate Hoffman was struck by falling glass from a large window. The cause of the incident is unknown at this time.
BI-LO Regional Vice President Gordon Schmidt released the following statement:
We are deeply grieving for the loss of our friend and associate. This unfortunate accident has left a void in our community, and in our store, and we are doing all that we can to support and respect the privacy of our associate’s family during this difficult time.
The incident is under investigation by the Florence County Coroner’s Office and the Occupational Safety and Health Administration of South Carolina.
