FLORENCE, SC (WBTW) – A Florence County elementary school was closed Tuesday to students and staff after a power outage.
According to Florence School District One spokesperson Pam Little-McDaniel, the outage was discovered around 5:30 a.m. at Briggs Elementary School in Florence. The outage was caused by a tree falling on a power line on Wisteria Drive, McDaniel said.
Grandparent of a Briggs Elementary student Rudy Young said “We got to sleep in a little bit, We thought we would let her rest but she got up early anyway.”
“She kind of missed it. She was ready to go,” Young adds.
Maintenance crews and a power team are working to fix problem, McDaniel said.
Classes will resume Wednesday on a normal schedule.
