MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. (WBTW)- Family and friends in Chili, New York Sunday evening to host a candle light vigil on the soccer field at Davis Park 1005 Paul Road Chili, NY 14624 where Brittanee Drexel spent most of her time growing up and before she vanished on April 25, 2009.
In collaboration with the New York event many people in South Carolina including family members of Brittanee and the CUE Center for Missing Persons will attend a vigil hosted on Monday, April 25, 2016 at The Market Common Park, 7:00 pm at the tree that was dedicated to the missing girl years ago in Myrtle Beach, SC. The public is encouraged to attend both events.
Brittanee Drexel left her home in Rochester, NY during the spring of 2009 without her parents consent and traveled with a group of teenagers on Spring Break to Myrtle Beach, SC. The CUE Center reports Brittanee was abducted while walking street side to her hotel after retrieving her shoes from a person staying at the Blue Water Inn. Friends became alarmed when the teen did not answer her phone and advised her family of the hundreds of miles that lied in between her and her loved ones.
“I will never forget the call I received telling me Brittanee was missing and then telling me she was not in New York, immediate panic set in as we loaded in cars in the middle of the night thinking I will find her”, said Dawn Drexel the mother of Brittanee Drexel. “Now I sit sober in the thought asking myself if she will ever be found”, Ms Drexel added
Since Brittanee’s disappearance scores of volunteers have participated in searches with the CUE Center for Missing Persons, along side of several law enforcement agencies from across South Carolina. Rewards have been offered, thousands upon thousands of posters have been distributed, all social media sites utilized, numerous public events have taken place, national and local media on every level have helped get the teens story out to no avail.
