MYRTLE BEACH, SC – The 11th annual Beach, Boogie & BBQ Festival has cancelled its Friday evening (Sept. 2) activities due to Tropical Storm Hermine’s expected heavy rains and high wind gusts along the coastal area of Myrtle Beach. The festival was scheduled to kick off at 6 p.m. Friday with a wing competition & tasting and live entertainment. But have no fear barbeque lovers because Saturday’s activities will take place as scheduled under beautiful skies and unseasonably cooler temperatures.
The festival will be held at the Horry-Georgetown Technical College Conference Center at 950 Crabtree Lane, near Grand Park at The Market Common in Myrtle Beach.
In addition to the festival’s FREE admission, parking is also free and available throughout the Market Common area and HGTC campus buildings along Pampas Avenue. There will be a handicap parking lot near the intersection of Pampas Avenue and Crabtree Lane, and spaces will be first come, first serve. A full line-up of festivities include:Saturday, Sept. 3 – (festivities from 12 to 6 p.m.)
- BBQ Tasting Derby – Noon – 1:30 p.m. (while supplies last) – Attendees can sample delicious barbeque from competing teams by purchasing $1 sample tickets. One ticket good for one BBQ sample.
- Kansas City Barbecue Society (four meat categories) – Noon to 2 p.m. – Barbecue cook teams will be competing in the official barbecue competition of South Carolina in four meat categories – pork, ribs, brisket and chicken. More than $8,400 in cash prizes at stake and a lot of bragging rights. Come watch as teams prepare this savory food and turn into the judges.
- Myrtle Beach Car Club Car Show – Noon to 3 p.m. – Load-in begins at 10 a.m. All makes and models welcome. Registration $20. Fifty trophies, giveaways, 50/50, and more. - Corn Hole Competition – Noon to 4 p.m. – $10 per team; $5 per player. Registration and warm up begins at 10 a.m. Double elimination, two man teams, cash payout – 80% of pot to 1st place team; 20% of pot to 2nd place team. Limited to 40 teams. - Live Entertainment on Main Stage – 12-5 p.m. – Enjoy The Harvest Band from 12-2 p.m. and Jeremiah McGuire from 2:30-5 p.m. and dance to some of your favorite music! Bring chairs and blankets (no coolers allowed). Free.
- Beer Garden – 12-6 p.m.
- Food/Arts & Craft/Business Vendors and Exhibitors – 12 to 6 p.m. – Most vendors accept cash only.
- Announcement of Official S.C. Barbecue Championship – 5 p.m. – Learn which competitor will earn the Grand Champion title and which competitors will receive prize money and prizes with over $8,500 to be awarded. Main stage.
