Francis Marion inducts two into Hall of Fame

FLORENCE- Francis Marion University inducted former men’s soccer defender Kirk Bevington and baseball pitcher Erin Jones into the FMU Athletic Hall of Fame during Homecoming activities on Saturday, Feb. 21, in the Smith University Center gymnasium.


The pair will also throw out the ceremonial first pitch at the Feb. 22 1 p.m. baseball game between Francis Marion and Armstrong State University on Cormell Field at Sparrow Stadium.

Bevington starred on four Patriot soccer teams between 1998 and 2001, including the 2000 squad that spent two weeks ranked No.1 in the nation and reached the NCAA Division II national quarterfinals.

Jones, a local product from Dillon, set FMU career marks for wins (29), complete games (29), innings (334), and strikeout (315) while playing three years for the Patriots from 2002 to 2004.
