Myrtle Beach Police have arrested four teenagers in connection to two taxi cab robberies early Thursday morning.
Triana Small, 17, is now charged with common law robbery and strong arm robbery. Three other teens are also charged. Myrtle Beach Police did not release names of the other teens to protect their identities. They are aged 16, 15 and 13.
A police report states a taxi cab driver reported a robbery that began on Mr. Joe White Avenue around 3:15 a.m. The driver told police four boys flagged him down and asked for a ride to Grey Street. The driver said he agreed, but when they arrived in the destination area, one of the boys grabbed the driver’s throat. The driver said he fought back, pulling the boy’s hands from his throat, and the boys bailed from the van.
The driver then noticed that one of the boys had stolen his cell phone.
According to another police report, at around 3:47 a.m., another officer responded to another robbery of a taxi driver. That driver said he was called to Grey Street where three males and a female ran up and got in his taxi. The driver said he drove to Ramsey Drive near Pine Island Drive at their request. That is when the driver said one of the boys tried to choke him from behind while another boy began punching him.
The driver said they demanded money, and he gave them the money in his shirt pocket. The taxi passengers also took his cell phone before running away.
