SPARTANBURG, S.C. – The Spartanburg County Sheriff’s Office says four people face child neglect charges in two separate incidents.
Deputies say they visited a home on Blue Ridge Road Tuesday and a three year old boy answered the door.
When they went inside, they found a home filled with dirty laundry, cockroaches on the wall, and a one year old girl in a high chair in the living room.
They say five other people were inside the house, three of them stayed the night.
Deputies also found a plugged toilet, very little food and milk that expired two years ago.
They say Kayla Hawkins-Turner arrived at the home and says she’s the mother of the two children.
Melissa Barnette is the grandmother of the children.
Deputies say that investigation was turned over to the Special Victims Unit of the Sheriff’s Office.
They say Terry Barnett, Melissa Barnett and Kayla Hawkins-Turner all face child neglect charges.
In another case, deputies visited a home on Abington Way in Spartanburg on Monday on a call of abuse and neglect of a child.
Deputies say they responded and arrested Jasmine Webster for unlawful conduct towards a child.
