BUCKSVILLE, SC (WBTW) – The Horry County Police Department is investigating after the remains of two bodies were found on July 15 in Bucksville off of 701.
The report from Horry County police states police responded Browns Chapel Avenue in reference to a “suspicious call” after three people smelled a “foul odor” coming from the woods. The three said they noticed the smell when they arrived to the area around 3 a.m. but did not want to check it until morning. Around 6:15 a.m., the people checked the woods, “found skeletal remains” and called police.
Investigators say the remains were located under some brush, and a crime scene was set up.
Horry County Deputy Coroner Darris Fowler said in an email that the remains are believed to be male and female.
The remains are being sent to the Medical University of South Carolina to be identified and determine the cause of death.
On Monday, Fowler said the remains will have to undergo more testing before the identities are confirmed and the results could be up to several weeks.
