A former Marlboro County Detention Center officer and a Bennettsville man were arrested in connection to a domestic violence incident in April.
A press release from the South Carolina Law Enforcement Division says 24-year-old Tramina Shada McLaurin was arrested in connection to a relationship with an inmate and a domestic violence incident on Wednesday. 24-year-old Travis Daquan Campbell, of Bennettsville, was arrested for domestic violence on Tuesday.
McLaurin is charged with public official misconduct in office and second degree domestic violence, according to the release. She was booked at the Marlboro County Detention Center.
Campbell is charged with second degree domestic violence and was also booked at the Marlboro County Detention Center. A mugshot for Campbell has not been released.
An arrest warrant says McLaurin began a relationship with an inmate in October 2017 while she was employed as a correctional officer at the Marlboro County Detention Center. McLaurin continued the relationship with the inmate while he was incarcerated at another facility, according to the warrant. Telephone conversations between McLaurin and the inmate and an audio recorded statement from McLaurin were used by police to confirm the relationship.
Another arrest warrant from April says McLaurin assaulted a man by cutting him on the left side of his abdomen. The victim had to be treated at a hospital for his injuries. McLaurin and the victim have two children together and both children were present during the incident, the warrant says.
Special Agent Thom Berry says both cases were investigated by SLED at the request of the Marlboro County Sheriff’s Office and will be prosecuted by the Fourth Circuit Solicitor’s Office.
