COLUMBIA – Former Gamecock outfielder Jackie Bradley Jr. (2009-11) will play in the 2016 MLB All-Star Game with the American League, as announced by Major League Baseball on Tuesday night. Bradley Jr. was voted in as a starter in the outfield. He is hitting .294 with 13 HR and 53 RBI on the year for the Boston Red Sox.

This year’s All-Star Game is scheduled for July 12 in San Diego at Petco Park.

Bradley Jr. is the first Gamecock since Brian Roberts to play in the All-Star Game. Roberts last played in 2007 as a member of the Baltimore Orioles and also started in the All-Star Game in 2005.

Bradley Jr. was a member of the 2010 and 2011 national championship teams at South Carolina before being selected as the No. 40 overall pick of the 2011 MLB Draft by the Red Sox.
