FLORENCE, SC (WBTW)- A former Florence County Detention Center Officer has been charged with assault. 

David Kenan Timmons, 36, of National Cemetery Road in the Florence area, was arrested by Florence County Sheriff’s Office investigators on Wednesday, according to a press release from the FCSO. He has been charged with one count of assault and battery in the third degree. 

Investigators allege that on, or about, March 23, Timmons was in involved in a “physical altercation with an acquaintance at his home,” the release said. The alleged incident happened when Timmons was off duty and wasn’t work related.

Timmons was fired from the Florence County Detention Center, the release also said. He was released from the center on Wednesday on a personal recognizance bond that was set by a Florence County magistrate.
