Focus on reducing heroin in Georgetown lands man in jail

GEORGETOWN, SC (WBTW) – In an increased effort to get heroin off the streets of Georgetown County, Drug Enforcement Unit agents arrested a Georgetown man and seized several items, including drugs, from his car.

On Thursday, agents working together from the 15th Circuit Drug Enforcement Unit, Georgetown County Sheriff’s Office and the Georgetown Police Department were investigating possible drug activity on the streets of Georgetown when they arrested Malcolm Cromedy, 39, of Georgetown.

Agents saw Cromedy driving a vehicle and engaged in suspicious activity and knew Cromedy to to have a suspended license. The suspect was found in the driver’s seat of a car with marijuana in his lap and a significant amount of heroin, along with a digital scale, cutting agents and packaging materials, in his possession.

Cromedy is charged with two counts of trafficking heroin third offense, distribution of heroin second offense, possession of marijuana second or subsequent offense, driving under suspension third offense and being a habitual traffic offender.
