Florence woman indicted on charges of embezzling from Social Security Administration

United States Attorney Sherri A. Lydon announced Wednesday that a federal grand jury in Florence returned an indictment against Kianna Parrott for embezzling money from the Social Security Administration.

A press release from Lydon’s office said Parrot, who lives in Florence, was charged in an indictment that included four counts of embezzling money from the Social Security Administration, using a computer to commit fraud, and aggravated identity theft.

The case could now go to trial. The maximum penalty Parrott could receive if convicted is 10 years in federal prison, according to the press release.

The Social Security Administration – Office of Inspector General investigated the case. It is assigned to Assistant U.S. Attorney A. Bradley Parham of the Florence Office for prosecution.

On Wednesday, Lydon’s office also announced other indictments involving men in in Horry and Dillon Counties:  (1.) two men charged in a single-count indictment with illegal entry in the U.S. after deportation, and (2.) a man indicted for being a felon in possession of a firearm.
