One Pee Dee teenager is starting her career early.
Eighteen year-old Kendra Smith is nationally recognized for her gospel album and receiving a Stellar Award.
Her accomplishments will be archived in the Florence Museum for the edification of future generations.
“The city of Florence is extremely proud of Kendra Smith. To know that she is achieving all of the success at such a young age is awesome. We know that its great to honor her today, because her career is just now starting,” said Councilman Robby Hill.
Smith was surrounded by family and friends Sunday evening as she was given the key to her hometown.
“I’m only eighteen. I have so much more to accomplish and to be eighteen, to win a stellar award and have a key to the city at just eighteen, it is ridiculous,”said Smith.
She adds, singing is my true passion. I have received numerous awards and even the opportunity to sing with various gospel artists. The message gets out when you sing gospel music. It changes lives.
Changing lives by inspiring others.
One supporter who attended said, Kendra inspires me to be a better person and her music is really great. I want to be just like her one day.
