FLORENCE, SC (WBTW) – Ahead of their big performance, “Symphonic Rock,” the Florence Symphony Orchestra gave brunch-goers a taste of the show today.

Today’s show at Local Motive Brewing featured violinists Jennifer Foxworth and Melodee Wood. They’re two of the many musicians who will be performing the backup instruments for three local artists— Stephanie Fagan, Brandon Goff, and Todd Norris— during the performance on April 30th. Foxworth and Wood entertained the crowd with a contemporary set of blues, jazz and Celtic tunes.

Pamela Glass, the executive director of the Florence Symphony Orchestra, said she wanted to showcase the diversity of the musicians ahead of the performance.

“Today, we had two of the main violin players and next week, it’ll be a fun one as well. We’ve got Shane Reeves and he’s a percussionist and he’ll be playing the steel drum,“ said Glass.

She also said concert attendees can expect to hear a variety of music. She described the show as a mix of classic and “a little modern flare.”

“They’ll be playing some very familiar tunes. Steely Dan, a little bit of the Beatles. But they’ll also be doing a few original works from the performers themselves.”

If you want to check out the show, head to the Francis Marion University Performing Arts Center on April 30th. The show kicks off at 7:30 with a social hour starting an hour in advance. To purchase tickets, click here.
