TIMMONSVILLE, SC (WBTW) Florence School District #4 gathered together Tuesday night with members of the community to lay out their plans for the next school year.

Interim Superintendent Zona Jefferson said it’s important to talk to the community about ways they can help the children in the district.

Jefferson said the school district is focused on three areas for the student.  She wants to help them prepare academically, develop leadership and engage them in community service and improved citizenship.

“We are helping each child build their portfolio,” Jefferson said.

The meeting helped the school district talk with business partners and community leaders who are interested in helping students with opportunities like dual enrollment and internships.

“We are going to engage them in a conversation about the things we hope to accomplish.”

Two schools in the district were placed in a state of emergency back in March.
