For those who make that daily commute along with travelers who pass through Florence.
You can think of the city as an exit away or a turn of a dial from your destination.
For Florence Downtown Development, words can’t express their excitement for the city’s latest campaign.
“We have on average 72,000 cars a day. we see, is that with that many travelers passing Florence on the interstates not to mention Florence on the way to the beach…that with the radio station we can promote the great things about Florence,” mentioned Ray Reich, Florence Downtown Development Manager.
Back in November, the city launched a low power radio station.
The Federal Communications Commission created non-profit FM stations 15 years ago.
“They will hopefully a percentage of them will tune over out of curiosity,” said Reich.
In 2013, Florence County generated more than $280 million in direct tourist spending, up $10 million from the year before.
“Will be non-commercial, but promoting Florence as a destination,” Reich explained.
This is all in hopes of catching both eyes and ears.
The city hopes to soon place signs in areas along I-95, I-20 and routes headed to Myrtle Beach to promote the station.
