A Florence “porch pirate” has been arrested after being caught on camera stealing packages from a home.
Amber Denise Amerson was arrested around 12:30 p.m. on Thursday by officers from the Florence Police Department and Lamar Police Department, according to Lt. Mike Brandt, with the FPD. She is charged with two counts of petit larceny $2,000 or less.
“These charges stem from allegations that Ms. Amerson went to a residence in the 2100 block of Duck Hunter Point” on November 20 and Nov. 24 and stole packages from the front porch, Lt. Brandt says. These incidents were recorded on the resident’s home security system.
Lt. Mike Brandt confirmed that Amerson’s arrest is related to an incident caught on surveillance video that was recently shared with News13.
“This blonde Caucasian lady has been stealing our packages throughout the whole week,” Aline Leighton said in a Facebook post. “She came back 3 times and took everything from our front door. At the end of the video we can see a red pick up truck leaving our garage way.”
Leighton said the video was recorded on Saturday evening, and added that the thief had been to her home days earlier, on November 20, doing the same thing.
No mugshot for Amerson was available as of this posting.
