FLORENCE, SC (WBTW) – Florence Police have arrested a man they say stole a purse from a woman in the Rite-Aid parking lot after threatening her with a box cutter.
Major Carlos Raines with the Florence Police Department says the armed robbery happened April 6 just before 6 p.m. in the parking lot of the Rite-Aid Pharmacy on Irby and Pine Streets in Florence. The woman parked her car, and the man in the photos, identified as Jamison Michael McEarl, approached her with a box cutter and snatched her handbag, adds Major Raines.
A witness nearby ran after McEarl, causing the suspected thief to throw down the purse, but only after stealing the woman’s wallet from within, reports Major Raines.
McEarl was arrested Wednesday and booked into the Florence County Detention Center at 12:50 p.m. He is charged with financial transaction card theft, petit larceny, armed robbery and possession of a weapon during a violent crime.
