A nurse from Lake City was arrested on Thursday on drug charges, according to information from Florence County Sheriff’s Office.
Kimberly McKenzie, age 28, of Taylor Street in Lake is a nurse at McLeod Regional Heath Center in Florence, officials in the hospital’s public information office confirmed.
McKenzie was arrested by SC DHEC officials and booked early Thursday afternoon.
McKenzie’s Facebook page indicates that she is a nurse in the ICU unit at the hospital, although officials could not confirm that.
McKenzie is facing 2 counts of violation drug distribution law, non-controlled, imitation controlled substance, prohibited acts C, according to the Florence County Detention Center.
No details of the charges were immediately available from DHEC officials.
McKenzie was released from jail just before 5 pm on Thursday.
McLeod Hospital officials could not comment on the issue because it is a personnel matter.
