FLORENCE, S.C. (AP) – Florence City Council has agreed to work with Florence County on a 20-year plan to revive the eastern entrance to the city.

Local media outlets report that Florence County Planning Director Jay Graham says the next step is paying for a $160,000 study that would create guidelines for development of the blighted area on the east side during the next two decades.

The plan would also address the future needs for handling traffic, pedestrians and cyclists.

Graham said the plan for the eastern entrance to the city will keep that district in synch with the improvements and changes underway in downtown Florence.
