FLORENCE, S.C. (WBTW) – Hundreds of people from across the state were in Florence Sunday for the Junior Tennis Team State Championships.

More than 200 players and 32 teams attended this year’s tournament.

It’s the 4th year that the event’s been in Florence.

Organizers say the tournament give kids a great opportunity to play tennis and form life long memories.

“They can do it with friends. They’re not on their own, they are on a team which is kind of unique, normally it’s like a couple of people on the court and also it gets them active. Their on the court rather than inside playing video games or watching TV or what have you so it gets them active and healthy,” said Manager of Communications Jonathon Braden.

The team who wins the state championship will go on to play in the USCA Southern Championship next month here in South Carolina and then nationals also in the Palmetto State.
