FLORENCE, SC (WBTW) – The Florence County coroner’s office says the death of a 66-year-old woman has been ruled a homicide after her body was discovered inside a Florence apartment.
Police in Florence discovered the body of Qatar Ramadan, 66, of Florence, in her apartment at 154 North Franklin Drive around 4:30 p.m. on Aug. 4. Police were at the residence for a welfare check, according to Lt. Mike Brandt of the Florence Police Department.
Officers made entry into the apartment and found Ramadan deceased. Ramadan’s death has been ruled a homicide due to blunt trauma of the head, confirms Florence County Coroner Keith von Lutcken. Details of the death are being withheld due to the ongoing investigation, adds the coroner.
Brandt also says when officers were at the residence, Ramadan’s vehicle and 18-year-old granddaughter, Aliyah Hill, couldn’t be located.
According to Brandt, Hill was arrested on Wednesday in Jacksonville, Florida while in possession of the victim’s vehicle. An arrest warrant has been issued for murder. Hill is awaiting extradition to South Carolina.
Ramadan’s homicide is being investigated by the Florence Police Department and Florence County Coroner’s Office.
