FLORENCE, SC (WBTW) – Florence Police say a suspect in the Friday afternoon shooting at a Family Dollar store that left one person injured is in custody.

According to Major Carlos Raines with the Florence Police Department, Melvin James Johnson, Jr. turned himself in Friday night. Major Raines said the shooting happened Friday afternoon at the Family Dollar on West Lucas Street.

Johnson has outstanding warrants for attempted murder and possession of a weapon during a violent crime, adds Major Raines.

Major Raines could not give details into the victim’s condition, but did say there was a 1-year-old child inside the same car with the victim when the person was shot.
