FLORENCE, SC (WBTW) – A Florence County Detention Center corrections officer is in jail for an “inappropriate relationship” with an inmate inside the jail, according to the sheriff’s office.

Major Mike Nunn with the Florence County Sheriff’s Office says deputies arrested Bridgette Yvonne Jackson, 31, of Effingham, and charged her with one count of misconduct in office Thursday morning. Jackson is a corrections officer at the county’s detention center, confirms Major Nunn.

According to the arrest warrant, Jackson is reported to have knowingly and willingly entered into an inappropriate relationship with a Florence County Detention Center inmate.

Jackson was released on a $5,000 bond and has been terminated from her position at the Florence County Detention Center.
