COWARD, SC (WBTW) – Florence County Sheriff’s Office Tracking Team caught two suspects Monday afternoon after a short foot chase.

Major Michael Nunn with the sheriff’s office says a deputy attempted to stop a vehicle for a moving violation around 1 p.m. Monday on North Old Georgetown Highway near Coward. The suspect refused to stop for the flashing police lights and lead the deputy on a brief car chase.

Two suspects jumped out of the car when it came to a stop at a home on Henneghan Road, Major Nunn reports. The duo ran into the woods and deputies were quickly able to set up a perimeter around the area with the help of the tracking team and Raptor One helicopter. The suspects were located in less than an house and were safely taken in to custody.

The investigation into this incident is ongoing and additional information will be released when available, Major Nunn says. The names and charges for the suspects have not been released.
