FLORENCE, S.C. (PRESS RELEASE)- Deputies with the Florence County Sheriff’s Office and other agencies participated in the first annual “Cops On Top,” an operation benefitting Special Olympics South Carolina on May 12 and 13, 2016.  The event was held at the Chick-Fil-A located at 2016 South Irby Street in Florence, SC.  Deputies and Investigators from FCSO, South Carolina Highway Patrol Troop 5 and the South Carolina Transport Police received donations including loose change at the restaurant and drive-thu,  while handing out t-shirts, hats and bracelets as officers on the roof encouraged donations.

The two day operation resulted in donations of $11,796.20, every penny of which goes to Special Olympics.  In 2015, law enforcement in South Carolina raised over $785,000.00 for Special Olympics.

“The real heroes of this operation are the people of Florence County, who really rose to the occasion,” Sheriff Kenney Boone stated.  “Their overwhelming generosity ensures that those with special conditions will get to showcase their abilities in an inspiring way.”

A special thank you also goes to Mark and Kim Drummond, the operators of Chick-Fil-A, Captain Jo Nell of the South Carolina Highway Patrol, Troop 5, Lance Corporal Chuck Norton with the South Carolina Transport Police, Region 5 as well as First Reliance Bank.
