Danagene Razick, Health Promotions Chair of the Florence County Medical Society Alliance presents Ellen Hamilton of Pee Dee Coalition with a check for $500 to purchase pinwheels for planting “Pinwheel Gardens” throughout Florence County in recognition of April as Child Abuse Prevention Month.

April marks Child Abuse Prevention month nationwide. Our goal is to remind every community member that PREVENTION IS POSSIBLE, but only with the help of everyone.

Blue is the national color for child abuse prevention and the pinwheel <

> is the national symbol of child abuse prevention. The pinwheel is a symbol of childhood, a time that should be filled with joy, nurturing and playfulness. Pinwheels remind us that child abuse is preventable and every child deserves a happy childhood.

Abbie Freeman of Easley serves as the Statewide President of the Medical Society Alliance. It was her goal to have Pinwheel Gardens planted throughout the state to focus the public’s attention on child abuse prevention and efforts to protect South Carolina’s children from abuse and neglect.
