FLORENCE, S.C. (WBTW) – A Florence County pair was arrested on child abuse – neglect charges after a child in their care tested positive for methamphetamine. This charge follows an arrest in June when Wade Davis, 30, and Devon Shaffer, 30, were booked for manufacturing and distributing meth.

According to the Florence County Sheriff’s Office incident report, Davis and Shaffer were arrested June 9 for the manufacturing meth charge. After Davis was released from prison on June 17, he was arrested Tuesday for the child endangerment accusation after a Department of Social Services employee reported that a child in Davis and Shaffer’s care tested positive for meth when given a drug screening.

Detention records indicate both accused criminals were jailed for “exposing a child to a meth lab.”

The online booking records for Florence County show Davis was booked into the detention center just before 11 a.m. Tuesday and was released just hours later at 4:35 p.m. Shaffer was booked into the Florence County Detention Center June 9 at 7:31 p.m. and the records do not indicate Shaffer has since been released.
