FLORENCE, SC (WBTW)

Workers at one Rite Aid store in Florence Thursday honored a local student who got a scholarship through the drug store chain and a non-profit group.

Temperance Blackmon got a $5,000 Folds of Honor KidCents scholarship.

Folds of Honor provides scholarships to the children of fallen or disabled service members.

“This is my number one goal in life is to make sure my daughter has a solid education and goes to college and gets the career that she chooses and through Folds of Honor she’s able to do that,” said Temperance’s father, Joseph Blackmon.

Temperance turned seven Thursday.

The KidCents scholarship is part of a three-year, six million dollar commitment by the Rite Aid Foundation to Folds of Honor.
