Multiple deputy cars belonging to the Florence County Sheriff’s Office were rammed on Thursday afternoon.

Chief Deputy Glen Kirby confirms deputies were involved in a car chase in the area of TV Road and McIver Road. A suspect, identified by Kirby as 24-year-old Brittany Nicole Jeffords, rammed the cars before crashing and being ejected from her car.

According to Kirby, the deputies involved are okay.

Major Michael Nunn says in a press release around 12:39 p.m., a patrol deputy attempted to initiate a traffic stop on North Cashua Street for a moving violation and the driver of the vehicle refused to stop. The vehicle briefly came to a stop in a parking lot, where the passenger exited the car. The vehicle continued to flee from deputies. The pursuit continued into the Black Creek and TV Road area, where it ended after the suspect vehicle crashed and overturned multiple times. The suspect driver was ejected from the vehicle and transported to McLeod hospital. No information on their condition is available.

Kirby also says Jeffords has a bench warrant for failure to appear in court for armed robbery charges. She was driving a black Chevy Tahoe when deputies stopped the car for reckless driving for weaving in and out of traffic. A male got out of the vehicle and came close to officers and was yelling. While officers were attempting to calm the male suspect down, Jeffords drove away. The male suspect was arrested. When officers asked the male why Jeffords drove away, he told them Jeffords said she didn’t want to go back to jail.
