Flooding from the Intracoastal Waterway is quickly growing in the Socastee area.

Most of Rosewood Drive was covered in floodwater and completely impassable on Sunday afternoon. Several relief groups, including the American Red Cross, wre in the neighborhood offering aid.

Horry County Emergency Communications issued a message urging people in the Socastee area and the Burgess area to evacuate before conditions get worse. When News13 stopped by the neighborhood on Sunday, several residents were still packing up their belongings and attempting to sandbag their homes.

“Yesterday morning, it was just in the driveway. So within 24 hours this has happened. I have 3 inches of water in my house. And this is now only the beginning,” said Rosewood resident Brian Brown.

The Intracoastal Waterway is expected to crest on Friday.
