Five Pee Dee football players will play in the Shrine Bowl later this year including two from Dillon.
Wildcats defensive lineman Jermaine McDaniel and offensive lineman J.T. Melton will represent South Carolina in the annual all-star game. They’re among four total players from Dillon County on the squad. Lake View’s Duane Nichols, who is known for his skills at quarterback, was chosen as a defensive back. Latta’s Davonta Porter will join him in the secondary.
Hartsville’s Logan Carpenter made the team as a linebacker and long snapper.
The Shrine Bowl features the top players in the Carolinas. It takes place Dec. 17 in Spartanburg.
