Local firefighters and community members cooked up their best chili recipes to help make dreams come true for children with serious illnesses.
The Midway Professional Firefighters Association and Island Bar and Grill in Pawleys Island held their 6th annual Chili Cook-Off on Sunday. Hundreds of people sampled chili from 20 chefs in the competition. All the proceeds of the cook-off will go to the Make-A-Wish Foundation. Organizers also held a raffle to raise money for the Carney Foundation, in honor of late Midway Fire Rescue Battalion Chief Josh Carney. The foundation supports local firefighters in their times of need. Island Bar and Grill General Manager Kim Lawton-Brown said, “Some of the children with Make A Wish Foundation are terminal. There may not be a tomorrow or a next week, so it’s very vital and important that these people get their kids the wish that they want.”
