NORTH MYRTLE BEACH, SC (WBTW) – Firefighters battled a two-alarm restaurant fire in North Myrtle Beach Thursday night.

North Myrtle Beach and Horry County firefighters were called to the fire at Mexico Lindo, in the 1100-block of South Highway 17, just before 9:30 p.m. Thursday. Live video from North Myrtle Beach Fire Rescue’s Facebook page showed large flames shooting out of the building.

Fire crews used two aerial water streams to battle the blaze and were able to control the fire within 45 minutes. Crews remained on scene for nearly five hours to monitor and put out hot spots in the wreckage.

Officials say there was no damage to neighboring businesses and the restaurant was not occupied at the time of the fire.

Highway 17 was closed in all directions in the area of the fire Thursday night.

Officials say the majority of the damage was to the roof, which collapsed, and to the front of the building. have not commented on what caused the fire. The scene is still under investigation with the cause listed, at this time, as “undetermined,” according to North Myrtle Beach Public Information Officer Pat Dowling.

As of Friday morning, there are no active police investigations involving this fire, Dowling confirms.
