FAIRMONT, NC (WBTW) – Multiple fire departments and police agencies are battling a large fire at an old tobacco warehouse in Fairmont Wednesday afternoon.
Fairmont Police Captain John Edwards says the warehouse, located at 1207 Lakeview Road, is a complete loss.
Firefighters from several departments have been working the fire for several hours, adds Captain Edwards. It’s unclear at this time what started the fire. There are no reported injuries at this time.
Edwards said Thursday that crews stayed overnight to watch hot spots and make sure the situation remained under control.
Captain Edwards also said the owner of the warehouse used it to store car parts and there was no power in the building.
The fire is still under investigation.
