MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. (WBTW)- On Monday, July, 4, Myrtle Beach City Government announced the fire department’s water rescue team received certification as an Aquatic Rescue Response Team from the US Life Saving Association.

The Aquatic Rescue Response Team is an elite certification level that trains first responders for rescue in surf and inland open water environments and prepares team members for further advanced training.

The Myrtle Beach Fire Department’s water rescue team consists of 22 members, and the team is one of only four certified response agencies on the East Coast.
