NORTH MYRTLE BEACH, SC (WBTW) – The North Myrtle Beach Fire Department investigates an apartment building fire that displaced more than a dozen people Friday afternoon.
North Myrtle Beach Fire Chief Garry Spain told News13 firefighters were dispatched to 215 S. First St. just after 12:15 p.m. Friday. When they arrived on scene, crews found fire coming from the second floor of the building.
Spain tells News13 two units were damaged by fire, while six others had smoke and water damage. He says the American Red Cross is assisting an estimated 17-25 people displaced by the fire.
The incident remains under investigation; however, Spain noted it does not seem suspicious at this time.
