DARLINGTON, SC (WBTW) – Fire damaged a single-family home in Darlington early Tuesday afternoon, according to the Darlington Fire Department.

Chief Pat Cavanaugh says firefighters were dispatched to 112 Jordan Street just after 1:30 p.m. Fire crews were already in the general area promoting an upcoming smoke detector blitz when they received the call.

Cavanaugh says the owner of the home was burning a fire in the fireplace when it “got out into the attic.” No injuries were reported.

Firefighters were able to quickly contain the fire; however, the house suffered extensive smoke damage.
