Raise.me is a platform designed to make paying for college much easier.
It shows high school students how much scholarship money they could receive at each school before they even start applying.
Raise.me partners with colleges and universities to offer micro-scholarships like these: $600 for perfect attendance in high school, $1000 for every course “A,” $2500 for every AP course, $4000 for visiting the college.
The education service is designed to solve the type of problem that Converse College sophomore Haley Thomas faced.
“Some colleges didn’t even tell me how much they were going to give me until I would accept to the college, so that doesn’t really help because you need to know how much you’re going to have so you can see if it’s going to work out for you,” she said.
Converse College joined Raise.me last year and already has 8500 high school followers.
“When you wait so late into the process for those awards to be made, students are having a hard time understanding what their costs for that tuition is going to be, but working with Raise, we have the opportunity to give them much more information, much earlier in the process, earlier in their high school careers, that will get them one more information about colleges, but two a better picture of how colleges can be affordable,” said Trevor Pittman with Converse.
Also, Raise.me acts as an incentive program, letting students as young as 9th grade see what they need to do in order to get the scholarships they want for the schools they are considering.
What’s even better is that this scholarship platform is free, and most students qualify, regardless of income.
